BACKGROUND: VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS) is looking to procure utility vehicles to meet expanding personnel transport requirements. These vehicles are required to transverse the campus with landscaping and groundskeeping tools and utilities, such as irrigation equipment. These vehicles will also be used to carry heavy loads, associated with groundskeeping and waste management. Contractor shall contact VA POC upon delivery. DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS Contractor shall contact VA POC upon arrival at the VHA Long Beach Healthcare System. Contractor shall include purchase order and contract number on all shipping labels. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS The vehicle must be able to withstand heavy loads. Must be diesel engine due to existing fuel supply providing diesel only. Must be able to withstand heavy horticulture duties, including towing. The vehicles must have cooling system for radiator with removable screen in order to remove debris. The vehicles must have a gear lockout Interlock key switch that prevents engine from running for safety. The vehicles must have power steering to allow all users to operate. The vehicles must have working headlights and taillights for safety reasons. The Vehicles must have bucket seats for easy entry while moving heavy material with adjustable slides to allow for various seat positions. Must have seatbelts for safety. Vehicle must have standard starting engine, clutch pedal must be depressed, and remote hydraulic lever must be in neutral position for safety reasons. The vehicles must have ground clearance with minimum 7 (18 cm) with no load to safely traverse the campus. The vehicles must have rear tow hitch with capability to tow heavy dirt loads which may include rocks, trees, shrubs for landscaping. The vehicles must have a hydraulic pump to allow all users to safely operate. WARRANTY Contractor shall provide a minimum 2-year limited warranty as designed by the manufacturer.
