Substitution of the VAR 4340 Steel for ESR 4340 Steel at RC 54-57, in a sequence of steps. 1. Perform mechanical properties testing of VAR 4340 at RC 5-57per ETR 04L0438P. 2. Perform coupon panel ballistic testing of VAR 4340 at RC54-57per ETR 04L0438P. 3. Generate coupon fatigue data of VAR4340 at RC 54-57 and compare to ESR 4340 (RC 54-57) data. 4. Perform full-scale component tests of affected components using a mutually-agreed to test plan with the customer. This requirement will be accomplished by a modification to contract DAAH23-00-C-0001.
