This part requires engineering source approval by the design control activity in order to maintain the quality of the part. Existing unique design capability, engineering skills, and manufacturing/repair knowledge by the qualified source(s) require acquisition/repair of the part from the approved source(s). The approved source(s) retain data rights,manufacturing/repair knowledge, or technical data that are not economically available to the Government, and the data or knowledge is essential to maintaining the quality of the part. An alternate source must qualify in accordance with the design control activity's procedures, as approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity. The qualification procedures must be approved by the Government engineering activity having jurisdiction over the part in the intended application. The intent of this Synopsis, in accordance with FAR 5.201, is to add the following sole-source action onto the already established contract with Raytheon Company, SPRBL115D0017. Market research suggest that Raytheon is the sole approved source capable of providing the required spare parts listed under Request for Quote SPRPA121QX042. SPRBL115D0017 is a ten (10) year IDIQ providing for the support of sole-source Raytheon requirements to include spare parts, repairs, engineering services, maintenence, training, kits and performance based logistics. The contract was awarded on 28 Sep 2015. The period of performance includes a six (6) year base period followed by one (1), four (4) year re-determinable option period. The contract maximum ceiling is $8B.
