Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has a requirement to retrofit 135 F/A-18 E/F aircraft from Lots 26 through 29 with AN/APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars. The Navy anticipates to negotiate and award a firm fixed price sole source contract with Raytheon Company Space and Airborne Systems, El Segundo, CA. Raytheon is the original designer, developer and manufacturer of the AESA radar for the F/A-18E/F aircraft. As such, Raytheon is the only company with the unique knowledge, experieince, special skills, facitilites, manufacturing techniques and technical data required to produce the AESA radar. Anticipated award is 4th quarter Fiscal Year 2007 with initial retrofit installations in Fiscal Year 2008. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and submit technical information and a technical capability statement in response to this notice. Responses without a return address, mailing address, and company telephone number will not be recognized. No phone calls will be accepted. Proprietary data in the responses will be protected where so designated. Offerors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database to be eligible for contract award or payment from any DOD activity. A determination not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
