The Government is soliciting information to determine the availability of all small businesses capable to perform the requirement indicated below. The requirement is for 15 N-Labeled Proteins support. The proposed acquisition strategy for this requirement is for a firm fixed-price purchase order with a one year base period and three one-year options. The mission of the National Institute of Standards And Technology NIST is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life. NIST is committed to expanding its programs in the biosciences and to leverage its vast expertise in the quantitative physical, chemical, and informational sciences to provide the measurement infrastructure and metrological basis for the life sciences. The Contractor shall express, purify, and characterize 15 N-labeled proteins with and without His-tag in E. coli. The Contractor shall purify to homogeneity the 15 N-labeled proteins using appropriate chromatographic approaches. The molecular mass, purity/concentration, and 15 N incorporation for every protein shall be determined. This technical approach shall complement the current NIST isotope dilution LC-MS/MS analytical method to express 15 N-labeled proteins in cell-free systems. Initial focus will be on two groups of low abundance proteins: i) cytochrome P450s, integral membrane proteins and ii) C-reactive protein (CRP) and cardiac troponin (cTn), soluble serum biomarkers of cardiovascular disease. The Contractor would be expected to invoice quarterly for work performed. No final commitment has been made to procure the stated requirement; therefore, this sources sought notice should not be construed as a commitment or authorization to incur costs in anticipation of such procurement.
