Biomechanics research at USARIEM is currently limited by a force platform that is over 15 years old and past the end of its life expectancy. The manufacturer no longer supports re-calibration of the existing force platform. The force platform output is input into a motion capture system. Software updates to the motion capture system will include digital input of signals, which is not possible with the current force platform. Purchasing a new force platform will enable USARIEM biomechanics to collect force platform data during tasks when an in ground force platform is necessary instead of a force platform integrated into a treadmill.
