The US Army Natick Soldier Center (NSC) intends to award a Sole Source contract to TDA Research, Inc. of Wheat Ridge, CO, for research and development associated with improving the barrier properties of biodegradable polymers used as films for milita ry packaging. This research effort involves preparation, modification, and incorporation of TDAs unique, proprietary nanoparticles into polyhydroxyl alkanoates (PHAs) nanocomposites followed by physical testing of the PHA nanocomposites for biodegradatio n and permeability. This will be a simplified acquisition for an award of $35,000. The rationale for other than full and open competition is that TDA is the only source available to do this research with the specific nanoparticles being tested. Interest ed persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all comments received within ten days after date of publication of this syno psis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solel y for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Please refer to numbered note 25.
