The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District will host an Industry Forum Oct. 4, 2007, to present information to contractors and subcontractors for the new Armed Forces Reserve Center, Rutland, Vt. The design/construction estimate is betwe en $10 to $25 million. The forum will be held in the Governors Room at the Holiday Inn located at 1 Holiday Drive off 476 US Route 7 South, Rutland, Vt. from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration for the forum is required and can be found at: https://155.80.93.240/surveys/Rutland.htm. Registered participants will be notified by email with additional details. The Rutland Armed Forces Reserve Center project consists of the design and construction (design/build) of a 71,000 square foot training building. With support buildings, total square footage will be approximately 88,000. This project will be awarded through a two-phase best value selection. The Phase 1 Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitation package is scheduled to be issued Oct. 15, 2007. The Phase 1 RFP will require contractors to submit performance and capability inform ation. The government will conduct a selection board and identify a maximum of five contractors that will proceed to Phase 2. Phase 2 proposals will require technical and pricing information. Award of the Design/Build contract is scheduled in May 2008. Co ntract duration is approximately 680 days or approximately 2 years. Industry forums provide information to contractors about the project scope, solicitation process, and working with the federal government. The benefit to contractors is the opportunity to address questions regarding the submission requirements and process with those directly involved. The forum also allows contractors to network which could lead to possible teaming opportunities. In addition to benefits the Industry Forum provides to businesses, the forum also benefits the Corps and the government, said Louisville District Commander Col. Raymond Midkiff. It is in the best interest of the government to maximize competition. Wi th a competitive pool of bidders, the government can get the best quality of work at the best value.
