The Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA) is sponsoring a Bidders Conference to discuss Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) 04-03: Bioinformatics and Assay Development Program. The conference will be held April 28, 2004 at the JW Marriott Hotel Pennsylvania Avenue, 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC. The BAA will be available on or about April 9, 2004 at www.hsarpabaa.com. A critical area of focus for DHS is the protection of the homeland from the release of a biological a gent as demonstrated by systems such as the currently deployed BioWatch surveillance system. Under announcement RA03-01, HSARPA has initiated a program to develop new sensor technologies to significantly enhance the BioWatch system while simultaneously re ducing its cost of operation. As a complement to the technology program initiated under RA03-01, HSARPA is initiating the Bioinformatics and Assays Development (BIAD) Program to extend the existing family of detection and forensics assays as well as to de velop next generation assays and new tools for assay development. The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) is HSARPA's contracting agent for BAA04-03.
