The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity, 820 Chandler Street, Fort Detrick, MD intends to negotiate a follow-on SOLE SOURCE procurement with Open Biosystems for Custom DNA Plasmids receptors. The DNA Plasmid required is a subset of the r etrovial shRNA purchased for the initial study and is required for the continuation of that study. In order to maintain the integrity of the study and to ensure shRNA compatibility, Open Biosystems is the only vendor that can supply the requisite subset o f the original library. Competitive bidding would compromise or invalidate all prior research and the study will have to be terminate and restarted. This would result in significant loss of time, money and scientific research already expended for this pr oject. This is a SOLE SOURCE procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and is not a request for competitive quotes. However, statements of capability to fulfill this requirement received from other responsible business prior to close of business 26 August 2005 will be evaluated.
