1. General.
This is a SOURCES SOUGHT and is for informational/market research purposes only. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL, QUOTATION, OR BID, NOR A SYNOPSIS OF A PROPOSED ACTION UNDER FAR SUBPART 5.2.
2. Contract Information.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Northwestern Division, Portland District (CENWP) has been tasked to procure a Horizontal Mill and CNC Turning Center for the US Moorings Machine Shop.
The purpose of this Sources Sought is to gain knowledge of the interest, capabilities, and qualifications of industry, to include: Large Business, Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Businesses to include 8(a) certified small business firms, Historically Underutilized Business Zone small business (HUBZone), Woman owned Small Business (WOSB), including Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). All are highly encouraged to respond.
3. Capability Statements
Contractors are requested to submit the capabilities to perform the work described below listed below:
Provide One (1) Horizontal Milling Machine CNC capable with and Operator Work Station.
CNC Milling Machine must meet the following requirements:
Table size minimum 50” x 70”
Table load capacity minimum 20,000 lbs
X-Axis Travel minimum 95”
Y-Axis Travel minimum 78”
Z-Axis Travel minimum 55”
W-Axis Travel minimum 20”
Spindle that holds CAT-50
Boring spindle diameter minimum 4” or 110mm
Two Speed Spindle motor with speed up to 4000 RPM
Overall height not to exceed Seventeen (17) feet
Storage for minimum 40 Tools
Power 45KW motor
$50,000 Tooling Certificate for outfitting of shop specific tooling needs.
Provide minimum of Two (2) days of onsite training for Machine Shop Operators.
Provide One (1) Y-Axis Horizontal Turning Center CNC (Precision lathe with live tooling) with Programmable Position Steady Rest bracket.
CNC Turning Center must meet the following requirements:
Self-centering hydraulic steady rest.
Turning Center must meet the following requirements:
Variable speed chip conveyor with chip stripper.
Chuck size minimum 12”
Maximum turning length of no less than 50”
Maximum turning diameter of no less than 16”
X-Axis Travel minimum 11”
Y-Axis Travel minimum 5”
Z-Axis Travel minimum 52”
Main Spindle Power 35HP at not less than 2600 RPM
Turret shall have a minimum Twelve (12) tool stations and operate at 5000 RPM
Turning Center overall dimensions shall not exceed 15’ length x 8’ width x 7’ height to fit existing site
$30,000 Tooling Certificate for outfitting of shop specific tooling needs.
Provide minimum of Two (2) days of onsite training for Machine Shop Operators.
Provide freight and delivery of the above machining equipment from port of entry to 8010 NW St Helens Rd. Portland OR 97210.
Provide all labor, materials, equipment, and engineering to design and install the required foundation for the Horizontal Milling Machine described above.
Provide and install electrical conduit in or under new foundation to required location on new Horizontal Milling Machine.
Provide all labor, materials, and equipment to unload new equipment and install/assemble on foundation in Machine Shop.
