Friends of the Winooski River (FWR), a nonprofit dedicated to the protection and restoration of the Winooski River and its tributaries, has received a grant from the Lake Champlain Basin Program to work with a qualified consultant to develop a Sustainability Roadmap. The project objective is to support the board of directors and staff in developing a shared understanding of Friends of the Winooski River’s potential long-term role in the environmental conservation and restoration landscape in Vermont, and a plan of actions to work toward the desired status. FWR will retain a skilled consultant to design a process of engagement with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders, and watershed residents; analysis of the input from all parties; and support for the organization to implement solutions to areas of weakness and leverage opportunities for sustainable growth. Outputs will include the design and implementation of three unique engagement programs; three facilitated board workshops; and a report of findings and recommendations for action.
