The Division of Fire and Rescue Services (DFRS) is seeking to enhance its community-based healthcare services by contracting with a qualified medical care practice to provide an Advanced Practiced Provider (APP), such as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. This initiative aims to improve access to primary care, reduce unnecessary emergency department visits, and offer specialized medical interventions for certain low-acuity emergencies. The Advanced Practice Provider will work with the Community Outreach and Support Team (COAST) Program. The COAST program serves as a dedicated resource within Frederick County aimed at linking individuals experiencing a substance use disorder, or addiction, to available treatment and recovery resources within the community. The COAST Program excels at providing person-centered care, meeting people where they are at.
