The Back Channel, located within the Long Beach Harbor District, serves as a critical entrance into the inner harbor facilities at the Port. The Pier D, Berths 35-37 bulkhead is located on the eastern side of the Back Channel. Replacement of the bulkhead at Pier D, Berths 35-37 is necessary to address structural and seismic deficiencies, safeguard ongoing business operations, and mitigate potential risks. As such, the Port is planning to replace the aging steel bulkhead system with a new steel bulkhead constructed on the waterside front of the existing structure, ensuring continuity of existing and near-term water traffic operations. To support with this effort, the Port is seeking a qualified consultant to provide pre-design, design, and design support during the bidding, construction, and close-out phases of the bulkhead replacement project.
