The Persistent Optical Wireless Energy Relay (POWER) program seeks to build, demonstrate, and validate an airborne wireless energy relay capability that can provide for the redirection of ground-sourced high-energy laser beams over long distances for power delivery. The 6-month Phase 2 effort described in this solicitation seeks to reduce risk in the realization of this capability through the development of a single, integrated subscale relay hosted at an altitude of at least 1.5 km for demonstration of beam redirection, correction, and harvesting relay functions. The culminating demonstration is planned to be held at the High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility (HELSTF) at White Sands Missile Range and will employ an existing HELSTF laser as the source. The subscale relay shall redirect the beam to a receiver site on the ground.
