The rail network serving the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach is instrumental in enabling the efficient transportation of cargo to and from many locations throughout the United States. Maximizing the number of containers moved via on-dock rail is desired for cargo velocity, and it’s also one of the key strategies of the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan 2017 Update, California Sustainable Freight Action Plan, and California Freight Mobility Plan 2020. Safe, optimized, and cost-effective operations of the Ports complex is critical to achieving this goal, including increasing efficiencies that lead to greater rail cargo volumes using the Alameda Corridor (AC). As such, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of all rail operations serving the Ports, including intermodal logistics that directly affect volume of cargo and train operations, is critical. Additionally, demonstrating how to sustain safe, optimized, and cost-effective operations with the current infrastructure and constantly varying volume conditions throughout the year is paramount. For further information regarding the Scope of Work please reference Section 1.3 General Scope Elements in the RFP.
