Sealed bids will be received by the City of Sioux City, Purchasing Office located in Room 408, City Hall, 405 Sixth Street, in Sioux City Iowa, until 3:00 p.m., Local Time, July 10, 2025 for the construction of the project, as described in the construction documents. The project is located at the Martin Luther King Jr. Transportation Center, 509 Nebraska Street, and includes removal and replacement of the split electric furnaces in the MLK retail spaces. HVAC is to be modified in the Edge IT space and additional heat is to be added there. Bids received will be opened and tabulated at a public meeting, presided over by the City Purchasing Manager, in the 4th Floor Hallway Conference Room, City Hall, at 3:00 P.m., Local Time, on July 10, 2025. Thereafter, bids will be acted upon by the City Council at such time and place as may be fixed. A pre-bid meeting will be held on June 27, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Transportation Center, 509 Nebraska Street in the Transit Office. It is strongly recommended that interested contractors attend the pre-bid meeting, and/or visit the site prior to bidding. Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashier’s check or certified check of an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Sioux City, Iowa. The check or draft may be cashed by the City Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within the ten (10) days after notice of award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. However, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, readvertise for new bids and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the City. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the state of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor. The work on this project shall begin upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed and be fully completed by November 30, 2025. Davis Bacon Wage Rates shall apply to this project. The documents are available for viewing by the public, or hard copy from the Purchasing Division, City Hall, upon deposit of fifty dollars ($50) via check or money order for each set. The deposit will be returned to depositor if the construction documents are returned in good condition within fourteen (14) days from date of award.
