The work of this project involves electrical upgrades to the Gatehouse Structure at the Franklin Falls Dam in Franklin, New Hampshire. Specific work tasks include, but are not limited to, replacement of the existing motor disconnects for eight (8) gate hoists, replacement of the existing motor controllers for each gate hoist, and replacement of existing conductors from the gatehouse main switchboard to each gate hoist. All existing commercial and standby power infrastructure shall remain and continue to be utilized to support existing loads. The Contractor shall note that metal surfaces of the controllers and conduits and related items are coated with a lead-containing paint. Also, within the motor controller boxes are asbestos-cement electrical arc chutes. The Contractor shall follow all requirements for worker and environmental protection and hazardous material handling and disposal related to lead and asbestos work, as specified in this document and in accordance with Federal, State of New Hampshire, and local rules and regulations. The Contractor shall note that the sub-operating floor in the Gatehouse is considered a confined space. The Contractor shall follow all requirements for worker related to confined spaces, as specified in this document and in accordance with Federal, State of New Hampshire, and local rules and regulations.
